The Reverso is one of those watches that has become an icon. Designed in the 1930s for polo players, it somehow escaped that very specific origin story and became one of the most elegant designs in the world of watchmaking.

This Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Sun & Moon builds on that Art Deco foundation while quietly modernizing it. The 18k rose gold case is warm and unmistakably elegant, and its proportions have been thoughtfully updated to meet today’s expectations, measuring 29mm by 46.5mm. It wears confidently without ever losing the refinement that defines the Reverso line.

The dial is masterfully executed—bold Arabic numerals, a textured pattern at the center, and blued hands that bring just enough contrast. At the left of 12 o’clock sits the date window, and it somehow resembles the Langematik’s signature big date by A. Lange & Söhne. It’s familiar in the best way: clean, legible, and, in my opinion, perfectly integrated – it ain’t centered, yes, but a little sprezzatura won’t hurt.

At 6 o’clock sits the Sun & Moon display, a complication used with restraint – not overpowering the dial, just enough to add a touch of romance. And despite the added functions, this Reverso never forgets what it is. Elegant. Purposeful. Timeless. A watch that respects its history while comfortably living in the present.
