We love pieces like this because, quite frankly, they’re heavy in gold. And that matters.
This watch weighs 68.7 grams total. Once you subtract the non-gold components—movement, crystal, etc.—you’re left with roughly 58.7 grams of solid 18k yellow gold. Worst-case scenario? You melt it down. At today’s market rates, the scrap value alone is already substantial, forming a real floor beneath the watch’s value.
And this is the value proposition: the difference between that scrap value (approx. ₱6,900/gram of 18k gold, conservatively) and our asking price (₱488,000) is only ₱83,000. In our opinion, that difference is more than justified for a vintage mechanical Audemars Piguet.
Beyond the gold, this piece features a beautiful ‘sparkle’ champagne dial with applied indices and matching dauphine hands, and a beautifully executed integrated 18k woven bracelet with a signed clasp.
This slim, elegant Audemars Piguet couldn’t be more different from the bulky brute of the Royal Oak Offshore line that many collectors know best. It harkens back to a time when AP made very few watches each year—many of them almost unique in character and execution.
