Piaget didn’t start as a fashion-forward luxury name — it started as a pure movement manufacture in 1874, building high-precision calibers in the Swiss Jura before eventually evolving into one of the most design-driven houses in watchmaking.
By the late 20th century, Piaget is just as much about gold craft and design experimentation as it is about movements. Once they integrated goldsmithing into the brand in the early ‘60s, Piaget went wild — textured cases, crazy stone dials, and integrated jewelry-type watches.
This particular Piaget Protocole—Reference 74101—harkens back to that era, when elegance was defined by proportion and surface, not size or complication. The stepped-tank style case is crafted in 18k yellow gold and has a textured bark finish.
To preserve perfect symmetry, the crown is discreetly hidden and placed on the caseback, allowing the case lines and dial to remain completely uninterrupted.
