In 1956, Rolex launched the Day-Date, with a focus on the upper class as it only came in precious metals (solid gold or platinum). It quickly became the company’s flagship model, prestigiously worn by world leaders, celebrities and athletes, and came to a point that Rolex had to produce day-date models with 25 different languages (on the day window) due to the growing worldwide demand. To top it off, it was worn by former U.S. President Lyndon Johnson, and was coined as “the president’s watch.”
Featured today is a Day-Date reference 18038 with an intricate linen dial flawlessly executed by Rolex.
