1990s Patek Philippe Calatrava 18K Gold (Box)

The Calatrava is where Patek Philippe set its standard. Introduced in the 1930s with the reference 96, its design has quietly influenced nearly every dress watch the brand has made since.

One of the said dress watches is the reference 5022R. With a 7-year production run, from 1997 to 2003, it is a modern interpretation of the original idea, gently scaled up to 33mm with a 38mm lug-to-lug — enough presence for today, without losing the poetry of yesterday.

Collectors love this reference because it lives in a narrow space most watches miss entirely: modern enough to trust, slim enough to disappear, vintage enough to maintain its roots.

This example is in rose gold, comes in a PP Officer style case, a white dial dressed in Breguet numerals and a sub-seconds register at six.

It remains quietly undervalued, especially when you consider what earlier Calatravas now command.
