2000s Cartier Pasha (Box)

While the Cartier Tank and Santos built their reputations on rigid geometry and clean lines, the Pasha went in the complete opposite direction. Originally inspired by a waterproof Cartier made for the Pasha of Marrakech in the 1930s, the modern Pasha that most collectors know today arrived in the 1980s under Gérald Genta’s direction—and it remains one of Cartier’s most unconventional successes.

This early-2000s example captures everything that makes the model so fun. The oversized cream Arabic numerals at the quarters and the military-time for the rest, a prominent minute track, and of course that signature screw-down crown cap attached by a small chain—an element that sounds excessive on paper but somehow works only because Cartier designed it.
