2016 Omega Globemaster (Box & Papers)

The Globemaster is one of those names that feels modern—but it isn’t. Long before it became a flagship line for Omega, “Globemaster” was a clever workaround.

In the mid-20th century, Omega used the Globemaster name for the U.S. market as a way to navigate import tariffs and trademark conflicts. What was essentially a Constellation elsewhere was sold as a Globemaster in America—a small but telling example of how brands adapted to a changing global market. Fast forward a few decades, and Omega brings the name back—not as a workaround, but as a centerpiece.

This modern Globemaster Ref. 130.30.39.21.02.001 leans heavily into that history. The most obvious nod is the pie-pan dial, a direct callback to the early Constellations of the 1950s. Here, it’s executed in a clean opaline-silver tone, with sharp facets that catch light subtly, adding depth without noise.

The case comes in at a restrained 39mm, with a fluted bezel that feels familiar but distinctly Omega in execution. It gives the watch just enough presence, while still keeping it firmly in that dress-sport middle ground—easy to wear, no matter the occasion.

This is Omega reconnecting with its own playbook—and executing it properly. Classic design, modern capability, and a name that finally gets to stand on its own.
