Over the years, we've sold many Tank Francaise watches, but this one is particularly special. It's not just the watch itself, but its provenance that makes it unique. This watch was sold in 2001 by La Estrella Del Norte Inc., a former authorized dealer of the brand and once the largest jewelry store in the country.
La Estrella Del Norte was founded by three brothers, surnamed Levy, who journeyed from France to the US and finally to the Philippines. They arrived with five crates filled with religious medals, statues, gold chains, and eyeglass frames. As the saying goes, the rest is history.
In its heyday, when Binondo, Manila was the bustling heart of commerce, La Estrella had a prominent storefront in Escolta. It was a favorite destination for the wealthy and affluent.
