This Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph ticks all the boxes, design-wise. A highly legible piece thanks to its blued indices, dauphine hour hand and broad arrow minute hand. But let’s not talk about that, and let’s dive on what makes this piece extra special – the caliber 3301 movement beating inside.

Though this piece houses a pre-co-axial movement, don’t let it fool you – the Omega caliber 3301 is based on the Frederic Piguet caliber 1285. Note that F.P. is a movement manufacturer owned by Blancpain, which is a member of the Swatch group. Omega is also part of the group, hence the use of F. Piguet movements on its watches. The cal. 1285 is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the cal. 1185, which was widely used by known watch companies namely Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Breguet, and Blancpain.

You can see why this piece makes us giggle and brings out the inner watch nerd in us – you get to enjoy and experience the same caliber used in select Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin models, but at a waaaay lower price. Talk about insane value proposition.
