Rolex Lady-Datejust "Jubilee Dial"

In 1945, Rolex introduced the Datejust as part of the company's 40th-anniversary celebration. To commemorate the significant 'four-zero' milestone, The Datejust’s bracelet was officially named “Jubilee” (it literally means a special anniversary of an event).

Fast forward to 1985, Rolex followed a similar path by unveiling the Jubilee dial to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the best-selling Datejust collection. It's worth noting that this also coincided with the 80th anniversary of Rolex as a company.

The Jubilee dial (a.k.a. anniversary dial or computer dial) features a repetitive engraving of ‘ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX’ on the entire surface. This design is reminiscent of the “all-over, in-your-face” patterns you will find during the 1980s (similar to the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram bag). It was a decade when logo-centric designs in luxury goods were all the rage, as a way to display one’s wealth.
